Description
Great visual presence is achieved in this unusual rug with strong geometrics softened by a gorgeously patinated and radiant palette. It is inspired by a 16th Century Egypto-Turkish carpet from the royal manufactory at Constantinople, woven in a bold middle star design. A detailed tiled effect is created by rectangular rows of floral motifs encased within square blocks that radiate out from a large eight-pointed star, glowing in vivid tones of crimson, golden-green and sapphire. The Nourison rug closely follows the strong lines of the original, but softens the effect with glowing, gold-washed greens ranging from olive to teal, which illuminate the classic center-medallion design. This remarkable rug is redolent with ancient and ageless appeal.
