Description
Glowing with an almost magical radiance, this remarkable carpet is based on a 17th Century Polish design made at the Persian court manufactory of Kashan. Formerly in an Imperial collection, the original is a museum piece knotted in silk brocade on cotton. Its hexagonal middle panel enclosed by arabesques was executed in twelve colors with a general light tone. While faded by time, its beauty is the inspiration for this resplendent carpet that bathes the room in a luxurious golden light. Its traditional motifs include palmettes, arabesques and cloud bands similar to the original, with floral and geometric details finely figured in olive green and ruby red.
